HRSA Announces Faculty Development Grant Program

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recently announced a new grant program under Title VII, Section 748 (42 U.S.C. 293k), that is dedicated to faculty development in general, pediatric and public health dentistry and dental hygiene. The overall purpose of the program is to increase access to oral health care through continued training, recruitment and retention of a diverse and cultural competent dental workforce.

This program aims to fund projects with objectives that:  1) plan, develop, and operate a program for the training of oral health care providers who plan to teach in general, pediatric, public health dentistry, or dental hygiene; 2) provide financial assistance in the form of traineeships and fellowships to dentists who plan to teach or are teaching in general, pediatric, or public health dentistry; 3) meet the costs of projects to establish, maintain, or improve dental faculty development programs in primary care (which may be departments, divisions or other units).

For more information and a synopsis of the program visit the HRSA website

The Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) can also be accessed here.

All grant applications must be submitted through Grants.gov and received by February 9, 2012 at 8:00 pm ET.

Please note that registration with Grants.gov is required with an active Central Contractor Registration (CCR) information. Registration may take up to 30 days. Additional information is provided in the FOA.

Should you have any questions, please contact Fatima Ravat, the Project Officer for this program, at fravat@hrsa.gov.
